Marquee Hire: What You Need To Know

Marquee hire is something many people have to consider at some time. Whether it is for wedding, a family birthday, a church fete or any number of different occasions. The internet and yellow pages will reveal many local firms, but one needs to consider various things before actually hiring a marquee.

Erecting a marquee is quite a skilled and labour intensive job. Yards of material and lots of poles require someone to have expertise and experience. Unless one has this leave it to the suppliers – they will be well versed in how to do it! Try to work out what extra one is likely to need so they can be delivered and set up at the same time.

Consider whether or not one is likely to need a hard floor. Ordinarily many suppliers will only provide grass matting. For a barn dance in authentic conditions, or a children’s holiday club it is probably not needed, but for the wedding reception of one’s daughter then it is probably a necessity. Of course this will add to the cost, but will ensure that expensive shoes and suit trousers are not ruined in a sea of mud.

Most suppliers provide inner linings as a matter of course. They provide a touch of luxury and are normally in ivory, but can be matched to one’s colour scheme, if desired. One thing marquees often lack is windows, but it is possible to hire them for a little extra. If one is holding Granny’s 100th birthday party in the afternoon, this can provide a pleasant touch.

Additional loos may be needed if one has a large number of guests, and it is possible to hire these as well. Many hirers will add them to the basic package for a fee. They will make all the arrangements for installation and disposal, providing enough portable toilets to keep one’s guests from having to cross their legs for too long!

If one is planning a late finish to the festivities one will probably need light and power. Once again this can be added to the package by many hirers, who will ensure that all health and safety legislation is dealt with. They will provide generators if necessary and competent people to install it.

Whatever season it is one will almost certainly need some heating. Even summer evenings in the UK can be chilly. This is another service that most hirers will provide, at extra cost. Some suppliers will also provide a catering service as well as entertainment

As one can see there are several things to be taken into consideration before hiring a marquee. The best thing to do is start talking to various suppliers as early as possible before the planned event. In this way one can compare prices and services, enabling one to make an informed choice of supplier. Once the marquee and any additional services required have been booked from a reputable supplier, then one can relax and look forward to one’s special event. Do keep in regular contact though, to ensure that everything does go smoothly.
